Dr. Cromer has been a Senior Aviation Medical Examiner for over 30 years and has practiced Occupational Medicine (OM) for over 40 years. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Davis, and at UCLA. His medical training was at the University of Nebraska where he received his MD degree. Later post-graduate studies were done at Wright State University (MS degree in Nutritional Biochemistry) and at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill School of Public Health (MSPH degree in Environmental Sciences and Engineering).
Dr. Cromer served in the US Public Health Service as a medical officer in Cincinnati, OH, with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and later with the Indian Health Service in north central Montana. Thereafter, he was a full-time faculty member for 12 years in OM at Duke University Medical Center. He continues serving as an Adjunct Professor at Duke and also serves as an adjunct medical faculty member at Campbell University School of Medicine.
Dr. Cromer is married to his wife, Penny, and they have 5 grown children and 9 grandchildren. He and Penny are active grandparents. Both also give leadership and support to Salud Hondu, a non-profit organization providing medical care to thousands of individuals and families each year in mountainous, central Honduras. Dr. Cromer has traveled a number of times to Honduras helping to provide medical care and service there.
